Season Premiere Date

I'm getting Tweets alerting me to the fact that it is May and wondering where the heck I am (answer: a vortex of manuscript pages, red wine and dark chocolate peanut butter, black roots so bad I'm just pretending I've jumped on the ombre band wagon, and an intense case of FOMO as I look at all the Insta pictures of my friends drinking Rosé on rooftops and enjoying the gorgeous weather).

Let's say Thursday, May 29th. I'll see you then!

  1. I'm extremely disappointed. I know you said May but May 29th is like saying June.

    1. I agree. I check this blog like 4 times a week to see an update and we get this smh

    2. I had to ask for an extension on my edits and I vaguely stated May because I had a feeling that would happen. I didn't want to promise an earlier date I couldn't make. I'm doing the best I can!

    3. Love the blog, rarely comment. Shake my head every single time someone gets nasty. This person has a life and a family. This blog is not her life.Wow. Relax. If she chooses to continue we would love it, but if not, so be it.

  2. This blog has really dissapointed me it was so great and I have been reading this and the other bedroom blog from cosmo for years now. 3. See you then! :)
People can use blogger or visit another blog that has all of the new posts so it'll just show new posts and you won't have to check. You can also read other blogs while you wait for this one to come back! And WTF you grow old with people, not with blogs... All good things must come to an end and I appreciate you taking the time to finish the story in a right way instead of just saying I won't post anymore ever WHICH IS SOMETHING SHE COULD DO IF SHE WANTS. So people should be grateful! This will always be my #1 favorite blog. Can't wait for your book Jessica :D

  4. Thanks for the update Jessica:) I will definitely be back May 29th to read about Josie's adventures in Los Angeles. I can't wait!

  7. Come on people! Jess is really busy this time of the year, and it's not random, she's working hard on her book. Give her a break!! Just take the time to appreciate the fact that she still has time for the blog (even though I literally can't wait for what's to come about Josie).

  8. Can't wait, looking forward to may 29th! I too live at work and totally understand. It's hard being 26 and chasing a career- often leads to "can't make it tonight, still in my cube and probably won't leave for another few hours."

  9. And it's so fun getting snapchats or seeing on IG all the fun your friends are having- especially patio weather. Totally feel your pain! Keep your chin up and rest when you can! Marking the 19th in my calendar now :)

  10. i feel let down. I understand being busy but don't say one thing and then change your mind. I understand the book takes priority and that your heart isn't into the blog no more. I have a feeling we'll get a few posts and that's the end of it.

  11. I give up. If you had always planned May 29, you should have at least said ‘See you all in June.’ I get you’re busy, but Jessica, we are all busy too. I feel as though I’ve wasted so much time following this blog. There’s not even an apology, just a half-assed excuse as always.

Even if you haven’t felt at times 100% happy with a post, I doubt any of your loyal readers felt the same. Of course, we all have our preferences re Peter and Richard and Ian, etc. There are countless ‘Can’t wait for the next post’ comments on every single one of your posts on this blog. And we get this. I think I can say for everybody that we have all enjoyed every storyline (even if Josie is going after the guy we don’t like). I used to get so much joy reading your posts, but with every day this hiatus drags on, I just feel disappointed. You’ve lost my respect.

There are so many other worthy bloggers out there who put so much time, dedication and effort not only in their blog posts, but communicating with their commenters. These blogs don’t get as many comments and traffic as yours and that’s totally unfair. The authors have respect for their readers, and I don’t think you respect us anymore.

I can tell we will get two or so short posts and then it’s all over. I don’t think you plan to actually wrap up the story. It cannot be done in two posts. I am simply, as another commenter so fairly put it, let down.

If you’re going to treat us like this, don’t expect us to read or buy your book.

    I am truly disappointed.

    - One of your longest-standing loyal readers

    3. I couldn't figure out exactly why I've felt disappointed the last several months with Jessica and LSP, but you've hit the nail on the head. I've been a long time reader and supporter. Always rationalizing and excusing everything that Jessica has said and done. But you're right, Jessica has no respect for any of her readers. Aside from the immense amount of support Jessica has gotten, she's repeatedly focused on any criticism she's received, and lashed out on any negative feedback she's gotten. She doesn't appreciate or respect all of her supporters, and that's extremely disappointing. Everyone is busy, understandable. But even prior to all of this, Jessica failed to follow through on her word and has half-heartedly written this blog for quite some time now. It's an extreme let down to such an excellent story.
I too have the feeling that she won't actually wrap up the story in a decent way. Jessica leaves a bad taste in my mouth because of her blatant disregard to all of her supporters and people who've stood up for her in the past.
I looked forward to her book, but I don't think I'll be buying it now. What a let down. That being said, thank you for what was a good thing.

    4. Agree agree agree. Some people here don't realise that when somebody puts their writing on the internet for all to see and enables a comment function, they allow themselves open to criticism. If Jessica doesn't want to be critiqued, then she should turn off the comments, but she hasn't. She needs to get used to it, because she will be critiqued whether she likes it or not when her book is released.

    5. If you are so "busy" how come you had enough time to write this long post bitching about someone else being busy.

    6. Its a blog not flicking life or death. Geez!!!

    7. I smother kittens in my spare time too :-)

In ALL seriousness, I am sorry anyone is disappointed, but I wish you would just give me the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming that I'm lazy, disrespectful, and unreliable. I had no idea how deep into May I would have to go with my edits, and it's taking longer than I expected, so I'm not freed up yet. I also have a new boss, which in the magazine world, is not a reassuring thing, and I'm moving next week. Chaos ebbs and flows in our lives, as you all have experienced, I'm sure. I happen to be in an intense ebb right now, and it's honestly a little weird to me that I have to explain myself for that, or take heat for it.

I have responded to criticism in the comments section maybe ten times over the two year plus lifespan of this blog. (I've responded to positivity and engaged when people ask me questions like who is the inspiration for Nance or how the book is coming along just as often if not more). One thing I don't get is this argument that if I don't want to receive criticism, then I shouldn't write a blog. But I could say the same to some commenters - if you don't want me to respond to your negativity, don't write something rude or nasty! If you can go two plus years of hearing about how lazy and untalented you are, how boring your writing is, how predictable the storyline is, and how your book is going to suck and you should go die in a fire—you are a better woman than I!

I am very excited to wrap up this story because the ending is going to be good. And it will get a proper ending, I wouldn't dream of doing it any other way. I've actually been tinkering with the idea of starting a new blog, with...dun dun dunnnn ELIZABETH as the protagonist. But I'm ready to see the Josie character through (I've written over 120,000 words about her...my book is 110,000 and I was ready for that to end too!), recharge a little, then try something new. I'm not trying to disrespect anyone, I'm just trying to take a little breather after the intensity of the last few months.

    8. Jessica, if I may ask, approximately how many posts will it take to wrap up the story?

      Delete
    9. Jessica please don't start another blog. You have a busy life, focus on that. You don't have the time to continually post here, what makes you think that it would be student with a new story. Please focus on your career and personal life and not us minions. You've never taken the time to interact with readers like others and down thread you said other bloggers don't get criticized. I read the comments sections on other blogs and they do. Unlike you they aren't professional writers. You said may 1 was bad for you, what about 2,3,4?

      Delete
    10. I don't have an answer re: how many posts it will take to wrap this up because I haven't had the chance to sit down and start writing everything out. And I like my head attached to my body, so I'm not going to throw a number out there in the event that I don't meet it! I would never phone it in with two posts, as someone suggested I might.

I'm not really sure what you want from me...a copy of my day planner? I said I would be back in May, not May 1st or 2nd or 3rd or 4th, and I honored my word.

I interact with readers all the time. In the comments section, when people email me, and when people tweet at me. So saying I "never" do is categorically untrue.

    11. I think so many of us are taking Jessica for granted. To write a blog, in addition to work and your personal life is very difficult. I learned that the hard way:) Sometimes life happens and you can't write when you'd like and quite frankly each post takes hours to compose. When you write a book, once it's done it's done, with a blog the story keeps going and you have to come up with creative storylines and ideas. Jessica said May and has stuck to that.

Jessica is doing the best that she can and I think the petty comments are a bit much. I think we should all be happy that she is going to give Josie's story an ending that I know will be awesome!!! When you write about a fictional character, they become a part of you.

Let's all enjoy the wonderful spring weather and gather on May 29th to learn what Josie has been up to!! Jessica, I appreciate and admire your writing skills. Don't let the negativity get to you:) You have a lot of your plate and when you are ready, we'll be waiting!

    13. It's not don't write a blog if you can't take the criticism. It's accept it as part of the "job". Yes, I am aware this is not her job, it is a hobby. Regardless, I assume you are a grown woman if you are married, and have a stable career in the field you want. Let's try acting like it and not giving in to the complaining of what I assume are young 20-somethings (I've come to realize that is the main age group for readers of blogs like this). My mother taught me ignore to useless criticism and accept the constructive. It has proved to be very useful.

    14. Let's talk about how other bloggers have never let us down. At least Jessica is giving us an ending.
With "K" on Cosmo before Jessica all we got was "we got married and now we're done writing. Bye y'all!" Further Jessica isn't even still on Cosmo and she's STILL going. So quit being like that.

You have no room to say she is disrespectful, Jess is just BUSY. Something you probably wouldn't know about, or you would cut her some slack. So stfu and leave this blog already if you are so unhappy (:

Jess, I am so happy for you! As much as I do love the blog, I am even more thrilled to read your books and love those! Congrats on all your hard work paying off!!

She'd understand I think. For those of us who understand, don't mind waiting, and are loyal we don't want YOU bringing her down because if she gives up due to you ignorant people, I WILL BE PISSED, and you will have ruined a great author.

  21. WOW, you people need to chill the F*CK out! Jessica is under no obligation to any of you, she was writing this blog because she enjoyed telling the story, and it is perfectly understandably that she no longer has time for it. She has kept us updated and is even going to attempt to give the story an ending, which is way more than I expected. A lot of people would just stop posting, and forget about it!
I, for one, think you are awesome, Jessica. I will definitely buy your book!

  22. Will patiently await May 29th! Hi Jessica, I found out about your blog after it was all wrapped up on Cosmo, so I haven't been here from the beginning, technically. Anyway, I never comment, but I feel I need to this time. I would like to say thank you for this entertaining story. I for one don't care how much time you need to take before updating us. I can't imagine how much you already have on your plate, and you've still kept the blog even though you have no obligation to do so. Thank you!

Also, I look forward to reading your book. :)

  24. I can see both sides to this debate. For one Jessica hasn't had to continue this blog, and even though there are the nay Sayers I think we all really appreciate it. But at the same time it does come across as though she's doing us a favor by writing it. After reading some other blogs, the authors are ao appreciate and thankful for their readers. I think some of these complainers just want to feel like their readership has been appreciated.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yup. Exactly. It's not like she couldn't have known we'd all be going "Yay it's May!" just for her to come off as "Oh hahaha, how adorable that you're all waiting! OK, I'll throw you a bone.."

      Delete
  25. I get it, writing a book is hard and takes a lot of time. I'm not mad at Jessica for putting that first or pushing back the posting schedule for this blog. I am upset that it took prodding from fellow readers to even get a posting update. May 29th is still May but I think Jessica should have been more forthcoming. She had no issues writing a thorough post about her book but throws us a bone about the blog when prodded.

I think Jessica doesn't appreciate us as readers. Whenever she received criticism she was defensive and rude. Writing a book and being published is great but you should never forget where you come from and who supported you when you were starting out. I think Jessica has forgotten us sadly. I will still come back on 5/29 but not with the enthusiasm I once had. There are many blogs out there where the bloggers are kind, humble and appreciative of their readers. Unfortunately those blogs would never get as much traffic as this one.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I definitely appreciate you as a reader. There is a large gap between the amount of criticism I get and the amount I respond to. If you go back to the very beginning of this blog on Cosmo, it's riddled with criticism and nasty comments about my writing and the storyline. I never responded to any of it. But everyone has her breaking point, and especially after I took this on my own, I felt like why DO I always have to take it? I wanted to stand up for myself. I have checked out a few of the other blogs (and they're great! Go everyone for getting it done), but I don't see any negativity to really respond to.

And about the prodding thing - May 1 was a terrible day at work. It was one day after something very shocking and sad happened in the office, and the first day our new editor-in-chief started. My head has not been in a good place, and I really just wasn't thinking.

      Delete
    2. You don't need to apologize. Don't let the crazy commenters make you feel as if you should.

      Delete
  26. I'm sorry, while I am bummed that there isn't a new post yet, I also understand. I'm assuming because this blog is no longer on Cosmo's website, Jessica is no longer being paid to write it. Am I wrong about this?

If she's doing it for free, there's no obligation for her to write it. Yeah, I'd like to read more, and I'd at least like an ending, but I'd also like a million dollars. Just because I'd like to have something doesn't mean I'm entitled to it. I think it's perfectly acceptable for someone to say I have this awesome opportunity to write a book and make some money and so I need to give up some things I do for fun. In the real world, fun unfortunately does not pay the bills.

And while people are entitled to complain if they want, I don't see the point. It's not like that's going to make things speed up. If you're unhappy about the way things are handled here, don't come back. There are plenty of other blogs out there. There's also news sites you can read which discuss far worse things happening then a blogger not posting frequently enough.

Jessica, I'll keep checking back. I hope to see a post soon - I'd like to see how everything wraps up. If that doesn't happen, I'll make up my own ending and hope I can get my next fix when your book is released.

    Also, what does FOMO mean?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. This is just something I do on the side, no longer attached to Cosmo. When I got the offer at SELF, I asked if I could continue to write the blog for Cosmo but it was a conflict of interest. I gave my two weeks and I had a choice: wrap up the story in two weeks as well, or keep it going so as not to short change the readers. I saw how upset people were with the way the old bedroom blog writer ended her tenure, and I didn't want to do that, so I decided to continue it. (I also decided to continue writing it because I enjoyed it...I'm not THAT altruistic!).

It's not that I don't still enjoy it, but I'm a little creatively bereft due to writing a book and accepting a bigger job with a heavier workload than I had at Cosmo. I also wish people could understand that at Cosmo, the blog was part of my job and something I did during the day, and the posts were much shorter. Now it is something that is an addition to my day, the blogs are double/triple/quadruple in length, and sometimes, there is no room in my day or my week to do it. I know so many people understand this, and a lot of readers who are writers also empathize with this, but there is a portion of the readership that seems to believe that taking a hiatus, or a sick day (which happened ONE TIME in two plus years and holy moly!) indicates that I'm slacking or that I don't respect the readers. It's nothing of the sort. I'm just not a content generating machine!

FOMO means fear of missing out. So like when I'm marooned on the island that is my kitchen table on a Saturday, and take a break to look at my phone and see texts from my friends pressuring me to join them at a boozy outdoor brunch and they look so cute in white jeans and sandals while I'm rocking my uniform of ratty sweatpants and sweatshirt (weird thing I discovered about myself...writing for hours makes me absolutely FREEZING no matter how warm it is outside), I have FOMO in spades.

    2. I think people in general have a hard time emphasizing. I think we've all had those days where we had super fun plans with friends but a hellish day at work, and we cancel the plans because even though it's something we want to do and like doing, we're just tapped out.

I'm just jealous of anyone who has the balls to wear white jeans at all. Even before I had kids that wasn't a risk I was going to take ;-)

  27. People are crazy. The author does not owe us a thing. We do not pay her and she does not earn a cent from us. Why are people talking like she did a horrible thing just because she has other commitments in real life that actually pays her bills? Go pick up a book if you want to read a story. People have a life you know.

I enjoy reading her blog but the world does not end if she takes a long time to post.

  28. Didn't have the energy for all of the emotion in the comments section, so here we go...

You write a good blog, Jessica. If you didn't, people wouldn't still be here complaining about how they miss it. So thank you for that.

Second, please do write a blog from the POV of Elizabeth! Great idea, I'd read it, very very cool.

Third, who is the inspiration for Nance?

Fourth, could everyone have a glass of wine and relax? Honestly I'm also annoyed that I didn't get a huge awesome post the first week of May, but if the options are to hate on the author, move on with your life, or have a glass of wine... go with one of the latter two options. There's enough hate in the world.

  29. The inspiration for Nance is my own mother, actually, who by example has shown me what it means to be ambitious, driven, and passionate about what I do. Dare I borrow my own book title here to say that I'm the luckiest girl alive?

Thank you for this warm message! Also, one of my favorite articles we ever ran at Cosmo was this career piece about how jealousy can be a good thing, because it can open your eyes to the things you really want in life. I thought about all the editors I worked with who had written books of their own (personal favorite and my wonderful mentor - John Searles, everyone read his books they're brilliant!), and how happy I was for them but also rabidly jealous, and that was when I knew I had to put the pen to page one day. Maybe a book in your future...?

  31. I am really disgusted at the amount of negative criticism Jessica is getting, seriously people, get over your f*^%#ng selves. You should be ashamed of yourselves bringing someone down for having a life and pursuin their career. What Jessica does is take the time out of her life to write all of us a FREE blog with each post taking us less than 5 minutes to read but a lot longer for we to think of the story line and write it. Alongside, writing a bloody book!!! Jessica majority of your readers support you and appreciate what you are doing. We are greatful that you take the time to write something so great that keeps us coming back. You are juggling a lot and we all support you. We support your blog, we will support your book and we will support your talent. Seriously, instead of sitting here replying to all this negativity, spend that time eating Oreos and recharging to finish up that book as we want to get reading!!! You are doing great!! Haters gon hate potatoes gon potate :). Really excited for the 29th :D and for the book.

  33. May 29th IS in May. She didn't specify what part of the month she would start posting in. You guys just nag and b**** all the time. If a blog is causing you this much stress, maybe you need to find something else to do.

  34. So, I'm an old nay-sayer from right before she "took a break", as well as a loyal reader of Bedroom Blog long before Josie, I predicted this would happen, and now we're here. The amount of time that she's taken in the last few days to respond to everyone criticizing her could've been better spent by writing a new post, with the next one determined in a matter of weeks or so. Jess, I have to say, I believe that every time you push it back, you lose points with some of us that would've bought your book. & when you lose a follower, you also lose every person they WOULD HAVE shared the book with. You will be criticized when your book comes out, and you won't even have the opportunity to give excuses of your mind being elsewhere. My father is a published author of 11 Christian books, which take a lot of research, editing, accuracy, etc., yet he still has time to keep up with all of his... extracurriculars, so to speak. It should be mentioned that 5 of those books have come out in the past 3 years, AND he works a 55 hr/week career as a new homes salesman on top of that. I doubt your book & career are any more time consuming, so perhaps you should have just ended the blog while you still had everyone on your side. You don't need to respond, because it's highly unlikely that I'll be back to see. Best of luck with future endeavors. I'd suggest not beginning a new blog when the one you already have isn't going as planned. As for all you loyal followers, I sincerely hope you get the respect you so very much deserve. You're better than I for hanging on so long.

    1. I actually do hope you come back. If only to read your own post and realize how incredibly sanctimonious and entitled you come off. No big loss if you don't - I'm sure you wouldn't allow yourself to recognize it anyway.

    2. Holy shit you need a life instead of posting such a long, vile post insulting someone who writes for fun on this blog. She gave you entertainment, now she has a big project that is a form of her livelihood, and here you are demanding she sacrifice the little personal time she has left posting more stories so you can be entertained for 15 minutes a week.

How you spend your time is your business, do not dictate others how they should use theirs when you know nothing about them, and they owe you nothing.

    4. Someone who has a lack of life throws tantrum like a big baby when a writer stops blogging for a while to do a job in real life. Like you, stop being a brat. Hey at least I am not demanding you to post a story as often as I want, even though I am not paying you for it, right? Sorry it hurts your little girl feelings but adults have adult things to do. You are opposed to having a real life outside of a fictional blog but others would like one. You can pull out that wedgie now.

    5. Hahah boy you are aggressive. Like you said, it's a fictional blog. Take a chill pill and sit down.

  35. Stop pretending that you're a victim of a crime just because Jessica is working on her professional life. No one physically hurt you and I really hope you're not so attached to a story that a small hiatus mentally or emotionally pained you. Please get over yourself and appreciate Jess for providing you with a fun story to read two times a week for well over a year. Wow, I seriously cannot believe the vindictive anger and hate that is being forwarded to her just because you didn't get exactly what you wanted. Really looking forward to the book Jess! Good luck.

    1. Huh? I feel Jessica has given up on this blog and starting another will yield the same results. After this blog is done, focus on writing books. Like many others I believe you don't respect us readers. Whatever you say won't change that. Most of us have followed you from the beginning and the last couple months have left a bad taste in our mouths. All bloggers are busy but most have a humbling attitude. Jessica I wish you well but I don't have the patience to sit waiting for an ending to Josie. I hope it's good.

    2. I have friends I haven't seen in months and a husband I've had to ignore pretty much every weekend for the last six months. I've had to pull a disappearing act in a lot of areas in my life, and make a lot of sacrifices, to get this book done. My friends, family, and husband not only understand my absence, but have been nothing but supportive and proud of me, as have so many of the readers of this blog. Thank you to those who've cheered me on instead of trying to tear me down.

  38. I remember when I read this at Cosmo. It was interesting to see the story continue, but I lost interest. I've come back maybe once a month to catch up, but I think it's time the blog ended. Starting back in January I started getting more entertainment from the readers and Jessica attacking each other. People need to calm it down, there's a million other stories jsut like this on blogger. And Jessica needs to toughen up. Girl, your book is coming out soon and while some people will love it, there will be people who hate it and give it shit reviews on whatever site they bought it from. That's what happened when you put your writing out there. Anyone who writes needs to learn to accept the negativity and acknowledge the positive comments more than they attack people for criticism.
Side note, am I the only one who assumed Jessica was not married?

Then she says she wants to wrap up the blog because she wants some "me time" and everyone jumps down her throat. Heaven forbid the girl should get some time for herself without having to worry about book deadlines or crazies complaining about a blog post in the comment section. Congratulations on everything going on with your book. Definitely something to be proud of and I can't wait to add it to my collection!! Also can't wait to see how the blog wraps up and who Josie ends up with. You're a very talented writer!!

  50. This post is the first (if only) in a long time that Jessica has actually actively responded to the readers in the comments section. Usually, readers ask questions and other readers answer. So Jessica saying she replies to her readers regularly is incredibly inaccurate.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I agree, Jessica has only responded to criticism and hardly responded to any comments. I enjoy Jessica's writing but her attitude is over the top. A book deal shouldn't give you a sense of entitlement. Do you know how many readers this attitude might have drive away? As a loyal reader I find the attitude off putting. It's like she's doing is a favor writing and pointing it out. We're not charity cases. Jessica said she wants to start another blog. Why? She can't keep up with this one and criticism gets to her.

      Delete
  51. All these readers barking at other readers for being peeved that Jessica is delaying updating the blog is quite interesting. She doesn't have extra time to wrap up LSP but she has time to possibly write a NEW blog about Elizabeth? Odd. I'm disappointed that Jessica doesn't have it in her to even tell us that she doesn't enjoy writing LSP anymore when it's so extremely obvious.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Also, not sure why Jessica would even bother writing an Elizabeth-based blog. I'm pretty sure most people hated her.

    2. I agree. Elizabeth hasnt done anything in this story that would make me want to know more about her. Kinda more of an after thought.

  52. A lot of people who have come to the writers defense I feel are missing the point why people are upset. She is more than welcome to have family time, and happy hours, and enjoy the warm weather. I would never want to take that away from her. What the problem becomes is that she took on this workload herself and she alone is the one setting these expectations and failing to live up to them -- that's the real problem here. For me, it's that combined with her snarky jabs at readers and failure to recognize that many of her comments come off as asking for a pity party almost. Your right Jessica, no one asked you to continue the blog. Of course we are all very happy you did-- but when you pile that workload on yourself and then get upset when readers are frustrated with your unkept promises... Well, you have no one to blame but yourself. It also doesn't put you in a good life to start replying with more nasty comments back to your readers -- don't bite the hand that feeds you. You might not be paid now, but rememeber who your customers are when your book gets on shelves... I am in no way saying Jessica is a bad person whatsoever, I think she might need to grow a little more business savy in dealing with her audience and future customers.

    1. Everything in your comment is spot on.

      Delete
    2. Business savy, is there some sort of revenue or monetary contribution you are paying for this reading this blog? This blog is now an unpaid hobby and she is taking a break to work on something that is actually paying her. I feel all anonymous comments lose their credibility simply by being anonymous. If you really thought you were in the right, you would be posting this crap under your real name. She took a break. If you have problem, go read someone else's free blog.

      Delete
    3. Just because you have a picture next to your name doesn't make you Einstein with Harvard credibility. Just sayin.

    4. Denise, yes, again I realize she is doing this for free. But let's not fool ourselves here, she also has a book coming out that MANY people on this blog have expressed interest in buying solely on her writing of this blog. Ultimately she's going to be paid for this readership. That's what I meant by being business savvy. When it takes so much for someone to buy a book from a new author, I guess I am just surprised she has no problem turning off so many potential buyers. I really do want the best for her, but if you take a look at comments directed at the readers she tries to make the readers feels guilty for holding her accountable... By using her family and free time stories to make us feel sorry for her. Again, I'm sure she is a great person and I'm in no way degrading her work ethic in any way, it's just frusterating to see a great blog turn to this.

  53. OMG these comments are stupid, leave jessica alone!! We all have lives and we all get busy. ReplyDelete
  55. Hey she said around May so and has given us a time line while working on her book and I'm quite sure other responsibilities. It's absolutely unfair for you all to be like that considering she is doing this as a pastime or whatnot. If you want the story so bad wrote it yourself. Congrats Jessica and I wish you the best in all you pursurle

  56. It would be one thing to criticize the blog if it was really inconsistent, but honestly, besides the occasional skipped day or week (because of sickness or friggin CHRISTMAS!), which was always explained.. I have found this blog extremely consistent. If I came to read a post and there wasn't one, I'd be disappointed for, like, a second, then I'd forget about it. I have other things to worry about.
As a writer myself, I know that sometimes the words just don't come out. It has nothing to do with being lazy or not respecting your readers. I don't really see why she should have to take abuse from commentors all the time either. I would defend myself too, it's human nature. So, people saying it's not very "business savvy" of her to be human.. well it's not very human of you to not be understanding that people have shit that is more important than your bi-weekly blog needs.
