Back on Thursday

Josie is still recovering from her birthday and her Mary Shelley is buried under the last section of her book and a pile of drafts she needs to edit for the April issue (Which is going to be so good! Everyone buy it!). I'll be back on Thursday with our regularly scheduled program.

    3. Don't give up! She has a career/job and that takes is more important than a fictional blog that is a hobby. You should not be writing such awful comments. If more people like you comment like this she will stop writing and the rest of us that still enjoy reading will be disappointed. If you decide to give up, you do not need to post that you are.

    4. Because it's happened twice? Good riddance

  2. UGH. Not again! I think it's time to find another blog that is more frequent and reliable. Good luck on the book though.

    6. There is power in numbers... I love this blog but if I only read this one I would be too antsy for more posts.

Right now, I read Minneapplegirl.com and Cranberryvodka9.blogspot.com in addition to this one! I've found both through this blog.

Good luck with the book Jessica! Would love some details about it if you can share!

  4. Yep. Done with this blog. And sooo tired of the whiny author comments.

  5. We all have lives outside of the internet people! Jessica is busy with her career, writing a book, and her own social life. The blog is a free things he does on the side. While I admit to being frustrated when I am looking forward to a blog and it not being there, I also try to put myself in her shoes and realize I do not pay for this blog, she has to pay her bills and live her life. I cannot wait til Thursday Jessica. Ignore the naysayers and do what you have to do!!

    1. While I understand that this blog is for free and the author has a very real job outside of the internet, I think I'm more confused than angry... I mean, it's 2 posts a week. Maybe I got really used to the old Bedroom Blog on Cosmo with K (where we all originally found Josie), but I believe that author used to write multiple posts at once (I remember the posting schedule being kind of all over the place, though). I understand life getting in the way, but the recent LSP posts have been shorter recently, too. Just my thoughts.... no virtual rotten tomatoes, please!

    2. I miss K! Wish she would give a update on things. Ps I've been reading another blog it's Minnie Apple Girl. Pretty good do far and it's pretty long.

      Delete
    3. I have to disagree. the writer for minnieapple does not know how to write and fails to proof read before posting. it's very distracting. if you're looking for a good blog my two favorites besides LSP are

      http://moderndayfaith.blogspot.com/
      http://newyorkdixie.blogspot.com/

    4. I miss K, too! I wish there was somewhere to find all the old posts... I would totally go back and read those again! That was such a fun, breezy read.

I have to agree with some of the sentiments on here... while I understand that this is a free blog that Jessica does during her free time; I find it kind of odd that 2 blog posts (that are not super long) a week could take up that much time. Granted, I haven't written fiction stories since I was a teenager! I suppose I figured the author wrote a bunch of them at once and then posted them according to her schedule. I do look forward to the return on Thursday; but maybe Jessica should alter her posting schedule for now?

Amy - I love modern day faith, too!

    5. I loved K (and Jess Hulett) too, but there were times where we would go a MONTH without a post, and it was super frustrating. I've appreciated the regularity with LSP since the beginning, and if I recall correctly, she's only missed two posts, right? The time that she had the flu and this one? I'm bummed there's not a post today, but I get it. As a hobby blogger myself, sometimes you just don't have it in you to post. That's not a crime.

    6. I found minnieapplegirl thru the comments here a couple weeks ago and really enjoy it.
I struggled with the grammar issues at first, but that has greatly improved.
The blog is three days a week and they're long entries.

    7. Thank you for showing me Newyorkdixie. I really like that one and think it'll be my go to from now on. :)

  6. Maybe I'd be upset if I paid for this blog or something, but Jessica is doing this FOR FREE. On top of a high-stress, FULL TIME JOB that *shocker* takes priority! Get over it, people. I was excited for today's entry too, but I can, unlike some of you, apparently, understand that she has a life that doesn't include this and wait patiently for the next entry.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. So because she's not getting paid she doesn't have to be reliable?

      Delete
  7. Why is there all of a sudden advertisements everywhere on the blog? I don't remember it being like this until the last week or so. It is kind of distracting.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's just a way for bloggers to make a little revenue. Most of us write posts that takes us hours, and without compensation. Doing this 2-5 times a week can be really time consuming, and ad revenue helps out a bit.

      Delete
  8. While the argument "she does this for free" proves to be a common refrain, with the additional ads on the page, I have a feeling that the blog is probably producing some revenue for Jessica.

That being said.. understand that life gets a bit crazy so my day isn't ruined by no blog post! I suggest that other people's days don't get ruined either!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Also, most of her readers, before now, were interested in her book when it comes out. I think her "I do this for free" thing is weird, because we're the ones who CLEARLY enjoy her writing & many of us would have PAID her for her book. Now she's shooting herself in the foot with that. Sorry, Jess. I love Josie, but your followers need more reliability. I hate to say it, but I just don't look forward to posts anymore. Good luck with future endeavors.

      Delete
  9. Get over guys. You sound like a bunch of whiny kids. If you're that unhappy stop visiting her blog. Jessica, I think for your own sanity and for those of us who don't realize life gets in the way you need to turn off the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  10. love the blog but you don't really deserve our support anymore. too many missed and/or short posts. and before the minions attack, she DOES make money off this blog, look at the advertisements. good luck with the book and your future endeavours.

    1. Mary Shelley is the author of "Frankenstein". Jessica used it in the sense that Mary Shelley created a monster just like she created her own monster, Josie. So basically, the creator of Josie is busy.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well clearly some of the readers have so little going on in their lives that a lack of a blog post is enough to ruin it. How sad.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. True, but what else is sad , is that you are making that assumption about people you do noy know, just because they expressed their dissapointment. Believe it or not a take out of my busy day, just to read this blog! And Am dissapointed when it is cancelled.

    2. Oh my gosh! You mean you take time out of your jam packed schedule to find a computer, turn on your computer (because I'm sure you NEVER sit at a computer at any point during the day) and then type 'Lovesexpizza" into a search engine or click on the bookmark you might have made?

Poor baby! You deserve ALL the blog posts for your herculean efforts to read this blog!

      Delete
    3. Thanks for that, but i wasn't implying that i deserve All the blog posts! Just stating that because someone expresses dissapointment , lets not assume they have so little going on!

  16. I have been a huge supporter of this blog since entry one on cosmo.
I love Josie, I find her extremely easy to personally relate to, but I seriously look forward to these posts on Tuesdays and Thursdays. That said - and completely understanding you seem to have A LOT on your plate Jessica - if you are finding that you are unable to regularly satisfy your audience, excuses for missed posts, time off for your book (understandable) then perhaps you should modify the schedule to once-a-week or not at all. Or realize there are a lot of people who read this religiously and you're really letting them down when you aren't posting as you have promised.

    1. Those people that have their day ruined by having to wait an extra day or two for a blog post need real problems.

  17. I'm another good luck and can't wait till Thursday and don't worry, all of those saying they won't be back WILL be back. Their outrage is a good sign that it's all they have going on in their lives and that they are letting their greed make them stoop to acting like whiney children. You should turn off comments by the way. You're clearly a kind sensitive person and this will all get to you. We love your blog and comments are taking it over :(

    ReplyDelete
  18. Let us know the details about the book.

    ReplyDelete
  19. As a follower of this blog since it's Cosmo days, I have to say you're losing me Jessica. I love, love, love this blog and your writing style but, the irregularity in posting and length, or lack thereof, of posts lately I do not love. You gained me as fan because I knew that every Tuesday and Thursday I could look forward to reading your blog but now I'm feeling as though I can't anymore. I realize this is not your top priority as everyone in the comments has pointed out, but as a regular blog reader, I just thought I'd let you in on my "LSP reading morale", maybe and hopefully some improvements/adjustments can be made.

    ReplyDelete
  20. that's exactly how I feel! I started reading because I knew on tue/thu no matter how shitty my day I'd have a pick-me up to read. I love jessica and I'm happy for her new endeavors but this is getting out of hand

    ReplyDelete
  21. Agree with these two comments above, i suggest checking out ny dixie and minneapple girl blogs. They are frequent and lenghty.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The lack of posting really shows lack of respect for her readers. Yes I do know this is not her job but she is a writer and if I was in a store and saw a book with her name on it, I may not pick it up based on the blog.
Its not even just the missed posts, its the time frames missing. Like no details on New Years Eve or other events. Just my opinion.

I'm not saying I'm not going to continue to read the blog but I'm not as interested as I once was and if I find something better I will probably move along.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love this blog and as avstay at home mom I kinda look toward this as a form of me time but the irregularity is really disappointing. I understand she has to work but if your commited to something you should make it a priority she could at least try to make up for her missed posts maybe a day later or post 2 on thursday. Im going to find another blog but good luck with everything

    ReplyDelete
  24. While this may not be her job per say it does reflect her as a writer. If I was to see a book written by her, I wouldn't be as quick to pick it up if I choose to stop reading the blog.

I feel like the blog is too incomplete now. There are big time frames missing (like New Years eve? unless I just missed that post) and too many story lines that don't finish or end abruptly.

I'm not saying I won't read it, but if I were to find another blog I probably wouldn't come back. Or I may come back every few months and just read it all as opposed to twice a week.

FYI - I'm not saying she can't have a life but its been an awful lot of missed posts lately. Considering its fake I don't think it would be that hard to write a few posts at once and then just upload them one at a time.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The girl that writes New York Dixie has hers set up to automatically upload on the days it's supposed to and the time.. Maybe Jessica could try that and write ahead some then set them up to just post..

  25. I don't think she cares about this blog anymore. She clearly has lost all passion on account that she makes no money on it. If you're gonna continue to flake out on us attack us for criticism (you need thick skin to be a writer), might as well just end this blog. Seriously, I'm sick of the flaky schedule and you getting defensive every time we say anything negative. I don't think you have passion for this blog anymore, and that's ok. It's clear you're moving onto better things. its ok, I won't be butthurt if you stop writing.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I miss when I had a lot of passion for this blog. I hate to tear the writer up even more, but would it be so hard to just do a quick post? Or do one tomorrow. You knew we would be disappointed with this, so I sense an end this which is too bad. I really loved this blog. I'm sorry Jessica, I bet all these comments suck. I still love your blog, bit this is so disappointing.

    ReplyDelete
  27. It doesn't seem relevant that the author does this for free (which seems unlikely given that she is a published writer), or that she keeps this up while maintaining a high-stress job (many of us juggle many things at once.) Readers complaining about posting irregularity isn't a sign that we have no lives or depend on this blog to get us through the day. It's a sign that we check the blog according to the schedule she said she would stick to, and lately, this schedule has been more and more infrequent and is then compensated by long posts with predictable twists, which we love, but it still doesn't make up for the lack of consistency. I personally don't think this blog has earned the right to be flaky yet, and I agree that she should modify the schedule in order to appear consistent to this reader base. Other than that, the writing and story is engaging and that's probably why so many people are bitching lol.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am going to have to agree with the slew of disappointed readers. I think that along with having a successful blog comes a responsability that is owed to faithful readers. The comments I read each week always make me laugh because people treat these charachters as though they are real people, and what that means is that readers have become invested in this blog. Once you've created a fan base and have created an emotinal investment, regularily skipping entries starts to create a negative impact on a reader's impression of you. I think we all understand, or at least I hope we do, that this is not your paid position, however through this blog we have come to know your name and with that we have come to be interested in you as an author as well. I am much more likely now to buy your book than if I had not discovered this blog. Therefore, in a way, there is in fact remuneration for this blog, and a duty to your readers to be consistent. Please don't forget that :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. all these negative comments are going to drive jessica to stop writing, and that will negatively affect the people who are willing to be patient and wait for her excellent posts.

if you want to stop reading, go right ahead. but stop vocalizing it! it's just making her upset and what good does that do?

    1. I think so too. Everyone just put the nail in the coffin.

And really would those who are being so harsh say that to someone's face. Probably not.

  30. Omg who honestly gives a shit. These comments keep me more entertained then this blog these days. I suggest jessica just cancels it and moves on. Theres obviously no passion for her to do it anymore....move on.

  31. Christ, everyone needs to stop acting like a bunch of weenies. So she has been off about posting this month. Big whoop. It's a freaking blog. If you're that desperate for content, go to your local library and check out a book.

  36. I think Minneapplegirl is written better than New York Dixie. She has the occasional typo but New York Dixie is all run on sentences and I find that worse. I do read them both, along with CaliforniaSoul. But I think we're all happy Modern Day Faith is back!

  37. I pretty much agree with everyone. I understand you are busy and have a real job, but at the same time, this blog is a time commitment and if you say you will have a post, then have a post. Why can't you write multiple posts ahead of time and release them as promised? Your fans are upset because as a reader, it's hard to keep up with a blog that is irregular and some posts are so short or don't add anything to the story. It's like reading a book that has pages torn out. You want to know what was missed and what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Stop whining like children and just check in on Thursday. She has a real job and a real life outside of Josie, and while we all love her and are bummed when we don't get a new post, realize Jessica does not live to please you. You all and your negative comments are going to be the reason Jessica leaves this blog.

I can't wait for Thursday! When I discovered this blog I read every post in one day. Keep up the good work Jessica! And please don't be discouraged by all the haters, people tend to only comment when they have something negative and nasty to say.

    ReplyDelete
  39. All the Annon negative comments is probably just somebody bored at home writing the same thing in different ways in order to have some 'back up.'

    ReplyDelete
  40. What disappoints me most are all the negative comments. PLEASE DON'T STOP WRITING JESSICA! There are some of us who understand that you have a life outside of blogging. I'm definitely sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for Friday! Maybe block the IP addresses of those that leave bad comments? Then you can still post for your loyal followers like me who appreciate every post, no matter how big or small. Can't wait for Friday. Keep your chin up, Jess. This blog is the best and no others compare. LSP 4 LIFE!! xxx

  41. Its sad to see people posted such negative things :( Life gets busy people! This book is obviously a big deal for her! As fans, we should be supportive! Good luck finishing up your book! If it is half as great as your blog I know it will be successful! :)

  42. Jessica, I think you should take the negative comments as flattery. It means your blog is a drug and we're all addicted. Keep calm and carry on writing. Can't wait until Thursday.

    ReplyDelete
  43. These comments are ridiculous. Pleaseee keep writing, even if it's not regular you would have so many readers. People need to calm down and stop flipping out. Your blog is my absolute favorite, thank you so much for keeping us all so entertained!

  45. I think you're doing great, Jessica! Don't listen to the nasty comments.
If I were you I would disable the comment feature for a while, honestly. Why listen to all the negativity. And as someone said, half of these people would never say those things in person. They're behind a keyboard and anonymous and all of a sudden they are brave and say all kinds of terrible things.

    1. Yeah i agree with the above!
So it's perfectly okie for moderndayfaith to not post for long period of time and for newyorkdixie to delay posts once in a while yet not okie for Josie/Jessica to be busy.

Am super looking forward to Thursday's post! Sounds like an awesome party that Josie had!

  46. I would read those other blogs but the grammar is bad and the story is usually unrealistic. Jessica is an actual writer and she writes well. I've been reading this blog for 6 years never quit! lol (and anons don't judge my grammar, i'm not the writer).

    ReplyDelete

    1. I've noticed this also. Cranberryvodka9.blogspot.com has comparably good grammar but her posts aren't as long as the other ones I've found on here

  47. P.S. when does your book come out and what is it called?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Jessica, I love your blog, and I am sorry that so many people are being so negative. I guess it's easy to be "brave" (or just extremely horrible) when you're hiding behind a computer screen.

    ReplyDelete
  49. There are people saying things like "would it be so hard to do a quick post?" Umm, if she did that all you whiny complainers would bitch that it was too short! She can never win with you people. She is working on a full novel, give her a break! I'm impressed with how long she actually did keep up a consistent schedule.
I am looking forward to seeing what happens next!
PS.. Very interested in reading your book when it comes out!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I love the blog. When I first started reading, I actually went back to Cosmo to read all of the prior posts. I honestly spent hours just reading because I am in love with your work. I don't want to add to all of the negative comments because I do respect the fact that you have a job and you have other life commitments.. But it would be nice to let us know ahead of time that you won't be posting. (I don't follow on Twitter, this is the only place I come to and look, so posting on Twitter that you won't be posting, does nothing for me). Also, it would be really nice if you could do a make-up post. Because although I have a job, and school, I look forward to your posts. It is a break for me, and it's like watching my favorite TV show. And when I watch a TV show, if it's going to go on break, they let us know. So I don't turn the TV on, on Tuesday and see that the show has been cancelled for the day. It's just a let down. I hope you don't stop writing for us, because I really do enjoy your writing. I just wish you would respect us readers a bit more.

And I wouldn't mind saying this to anyone's face because this is how many people feel, and we're really not saying anything wrong. This situation is just disappointing.

Please try to keep us updated, and respect us as readers, like we respect you as a writer. Thanks, Sylvia

  51. While I am disappointed there wasn't a new entry today, I understand the reason behind why. We're all human and we all have a lot going on in life. Maybe once Jessica's life calms down, she'll get some extra posts for us. I do agree with perhaps setting it up to automatically post, but it's Jessica's choice.

I've discovered a few new blogs reading through the comments. I like "Love and All Those Other Drugs" I read them all in one sitting when I first discovered it. However, it is written by a student and lately she hasn't posted as much due to a workload in school...so don't read it if you're easily discouraged by delays/lack of posts for a while. :)

  52. Nooo, we'll have to wait until thursday to find out all the details.

I also read View From This Chair. It is not actively being posted on, but there are hundreds of posts from the start so that can keep some of you occupied with plenty of posts in the mean time.

  54. I love this blog and Jessica is a great blogger!

I think we should all Appreciate her work and time she has taken out of the day to write it.

At least, she says something on the day and does not leave us hanging for days.

I recall the author from Nothing more than apathy/Lanie living it right. Instead of posting a scheduled blog post she would bitch about her life for twice amount of words than her regular posts. Now that was horrible!

    Thanks for the update, Jessica!
